Japan 2015 Part 8 – Tokyo

Ahh, finally Tokyo. The great city where you can find all sorts of interesting things. This city is really modern without ever losing their own traditional culture – two sides combined together harmoniously. We were going to spend our last 3 days in Tokyo alone, and this was my second time so I pretty much already had a good idea on how to navigate around the city.

We arrived in Shinjuku from Hakone, and we took Yamanote Line to Ueno station.

We passed Ueno Park on the way to our hotel.

This is inside our hotel!

Our first day agenda was to go to Tokyo Tower, the 2nd highest tower in the city after Tokyo Skytree. It hosted a One Piece store as well.

We visited Odaiba next, and the sun had already set so we could see all the lights. We passed the rainbow bridge on the subway when the bridge was lit up, which was quite nice.

The mall’s name is Diver City. Isn’t that the opposite of “Uniformity”?

This ferris wheel was featured in Digimon too!

Second day in Tokyo. We will be exploring the Meiji Jingu Shrine and the Imperial Palace, before ending the day in Akihabara. Oh yeah!

We saw a lot of people camping at Ueno Park under the sakura trees, which was fascinating

A visit to Akihabara is always recommended especially if you are into anime/electronics. You can get a glimpse of Japan’s porn industry too in this district. Make sure you armed yourself with plenty of cash because there are a lot of interesting stuffs here are begging you to be bought!

The Yodobashi Camera store. This store’s offering was amazingly comprehensive!

We only had half a day for our last day of the trip, thus we explored Asakusa area with the two main objective – Tokyo Skytree and Senso-ji temple. We got to the skytree the earliest in the morning to avoid queue and we succeeded the mission rather easily.

And that’s it! I have completed my photo journal from my Japan 2015 trip! *seal clapping*. I will wrap up this series with a final post detailing our plan and itinerary. Until the next trip, then! Thanks for reading the series! 😀
